To wear a Kanjeevaram is to wear a story — of mulberry silk steeped in pure gold zari, of a pallu woven separately and joined by hand, of a temple border that nods to the Pallava dynasty.
The Korvai technique
Three weavers, one loom. The body, the border, and the pallu come together in a tradition called Korvai — a technique that has survived a thousand years of empire, partition and industry.
When you receive a Surekhi Kanjeevaram, you receive a piece signed by its weaver. We believe the hand that made it should be remembered alongside the woman who wears it.
